Israel SingerRabbi Israel Singer has been a leader in seeking to secure rights and protection of Jewish people for nearly 40 years, serving as President of the Conference on Jewish Material Claims against Germany and Chairman of the World Jewish Restitution Organization for Holocaust survivors. The son of Austrian refugees, he was born in Brooklyn and began his career as an academic, teaching political science and Middle Eastern Studies at the City University of New York, and political theory in the Department of Politics at Bar Ilan University in Israel. In October 2001 he was appointed chairman of the World Jewish Congress (WJC). In June 2002 he was appointed chairman of the International Jewish Committee for Interreligious Consultations (IJCIC).
