MCDEVITT, Patrick

Fr. Patrick McDevittPatrick J. McDevitt, C.M. was born and raised in Chicago, IL. He entered the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentians) in 1977. He was ordained to the Roman Catholic priesthood on May 31, 1986. Fr. McDevitt has been involved in parish ministry, diocesan seminary formation, spiritual direction, counseling, and preached retreats. He holds a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy, Masters of Divinity, Masters of Science and Ph.D. in Pastoral Counseling Psychology. His research and clinical interests are the role of spirituality in mental health and psychological crises facing clergy and religious.

Fr. McDevitt began at DePaul University as adjunct professor in Human Services and Counseling in 1996. He was the Project Director of the Leadership and Community Development Project (LCDP) in Colorado Springs from 1999 to 2003. He became a full-time Professor at DePaul University with the School of Education in Human Services and Counseling in 2002.

 In 2003, Fr. McDevitt was assigned as Formation Director for the Vincentians at Perboyre Mission House in Chicago. He has also serviced on the Province Council for the Vincentians in the Western Province.
