Fred Licht

Fred Licht. Born in 1928 he studied at the University of Basel ( Switzerland ) where he graduated with a degree in Art History and Archaeology.

He has taught at Princeton, Brown and Boston universities and is the author of studies on Goya, Canova, and numerous essays on modern art, published in Art in America and Arts Magazine. After the Florence flood of 1966, he was director of the Committee to Rescue of Italian Art (C.R.I.A).

He has also been a curator at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice . He is also the author of exhibition catalogues and many other volumes and monographs, among which are: Tauromaquia – Goya and Picasso (1985), Jean Helion (1985), Jean Dubuffet and Art Brut (1986), Peggy Guggenheim’s Other Legacy (1987), Homage to Lucio Fontana (1988), William Congdon (1995),Le sculture di Giacometti dalle Collezioni Guggenheim (1995), Nivola. Sculture (1999) Thannhauser: The Thannhauser Collection of the Guggenheim Museum (2001), Villa Ginestra (2008).
