Marco Bona Castellotti

Marco Bona Castellotti teaches Contemporary Art History at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart (Milan).

He has written and published numerous articles on Lombard painting of the 16th and 17th centuries, as well as on the history of ancient collectionism. He has curated various shows (Magnasco,Tanzio da Varallo etc.) He has written a monograph on Caravaggio (1998) and currently works principally on the resurgence of classical antiquity in art at the time of Frederick II of Svevia.

With Antonio Giuliano, he curated the show entitled “Example: The Rebirth of the Ancient in Italian Art, from Frederick II to Andrea Pisano” (2008). He is currently working on an historical essay on Frederican arts (for Longanesi publishers, Milan). He has taught courses for two consecutive years on Raphael and the classical ideal. Currently a contributor to the 'Terza Pagina' (Third Page) of Corriere della Sera, since 1984 he has written on art for the cultural supplement to the major Italian economic daily, Il Sole 24 Ore.
