Poetry: Collaboration and Craft

Husband and wife award-winning poets will speak about their creative process and read from their poetry

with Ned BALBO, poet, translator, essayist, and winner of the 2019 New York Encounter Poetry Contest, and Jane SATTERFIELD, poet, essayist, teacher, and winner of the 2016 Autumn House Poetry Prize

Sponsored by Crossroads Cultural Center and Heart’s Home USA

Most people think of poetry as a solitary pursuit. Yet, as one of our guest poets, Jane Satterfield says, “As artists, we stand on the shoulders of giants…” Poetry is a collaboration with the art that came before, but also with the created world. Our second guest poet, Ned Balbo, when speaking about his craft explains that poetry helps “to preserve the people I love or remember.” Through this event, we will listen to husband and wife team, Ned and Jane, read their poetry, sharing what inspires them and how they move from inspiration to form.

The event is free and open to the public.

Light refreshments and book signing to follow.
